F1Security's 'Host-Based Web Firewall'
Removing Entry Barriers for Development Startups in the Public Market
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 16th that, as a result of promoting the Rapid Confirmation System for Information Security Products, which has been in effect since November last year, F1 Security's host-based web firewall (F1-WEB Castle V2022.07) was launched as the first product confirmed under the rapid confirmation system.
The Rapid Confirmation System for Information Security Products is a system that inspects the security and functional suitability of new technologies and convergence products, which were previously difficult to certify due to lack of evaluation criteria, to enable their introduction in national and public institutions. On the 14th, the Rapid Confirmation Review Committee reviewed the security and functionality of the first product submitted since the system's implementation and judged it as "suitable." Products that pass the rapid confirmation are valid for two years from the date of certificate issuance.
The host-based web firewall is installed as software on each web server to be protected, allowing security policies to be set for each server. Unlike network-based operating environments installed between the external network and the protected servers, this product is characterized by being a host-based environment installed on each protected server, thereby addressing blind spots in existing security certification systems.
Additionally, among national and public institutions, except for sensitive "Group A" organizations such as defense, "Group B" and "Group C" organizations can omit security suitability verification when adopting rapid confirmation products. Products that have received software quality certification (GS Certification) are also allowed to be procured through negotiated contracts in public procurement.
The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to provide various follow-up supports, such as guiding demand organizations about rapid confirmation products and linking them with government support projects, to help rapid confirmation products enter the public market.
