Jeon Woo-won (27), the grandson of former President Jeon Du-hwan, tested positive for drug use according to the forensic results from the National Forensic Service (NFS).
On the 14th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit reported that they recently received notification from the NFS confirming a positive result in Jeon's detailed drug test. The police arrested Jeon at Incheon International Airport on the 28th of last month upon his arrival from the United States, collected hair samples, and requested a detailed examination from the NFS. A preliminary test conducted on the day of arrest had returned a negative result.
Jeon, who was released the day after his arrest, told reporters that he admitted to using marijuana and dimethyltryptamine (DMT) during police questioning. Considering Jeon's admission of drug use and voluntary return to the country, the police decided to conduct the investigation without detention but imposed a travel ban on him on the 31st of last month to prevent him from leaving the country until the investigation is complete.
Based on the detailed test results, the police plan to summon Jeon again as a suspect for further investigation.
