‘Uiryeong Keunjul Ddaenggigi’ is scheduled to be held as a special event of the 48th Uiryeong Honguijanggun Festival on the 21st at 3 p.m. on Uiryeong Seodong Administrative Town Boulevard, with about 10,000 participants including residents, hometown visitors, and tourists.

The large rope is completed by gathering rice straw, twisting three strands to the left, then proceeding through steps such as pulling → large rope weaving → large rope winding → folding in half and making a knot head → attaching the binding rope → making the tail rope.

On the 21st, the rope-pulling competition will be held between the East Army (Cheongnyong Army) under the water and the West Army (Baekho Army) on the water to compete for victory.

Keunjul Ddaenggigi is a festival game with social functions such as resolving conflicts, harmony, and unity among community members, including local warriors, abundant harvest prayers, and family protection.

County Governor Oh Tae-wan said, “Keunjul Ddaenggigi is the essence of harmony among Uiryeong residents. Residents of 13 towns and townships united to weave each rice straw into the world’s largest rope,” adding, “Please do not miss this historic moment of Keunjul Ddaenggigi held for the first time in six years.”
