Byeonghwan Lee, Seongju County Governor, "Full Effort to Pass Seongju-Daegu Expressway Feasibility Study"

Seongju-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, formed a working group to pass the preliminary feasibility study for the construction project of the Seongju?Daegu section of the East-West 3-axis (Saemangeum?Pohang) Expressway, and held a meeting on the 12th at the small conference room of the county office with the participation of working-level officials.

At the meeting, the necessity and justification of the expressway construction project were explained, and the direction for ensuring the project’s implementation was discussed. Additionally, the attendees pledged to promote a signature campaign to urge the prompt approval of the ongoing preliminary feasibility study for the East-West 3-axis (Seongju?Daegu section) Expressway.

The East-West 3-axis (Seongju?Daegu section) Expressway is expected to serve as a stepping stone for Seongju’s new growth engine for the next 100 years by establishing a comprehensive metropolitan transportation network linked with the Southern Inland Railway Seongju Station, which was announced last year.

Seongju-gun plans to continuously cooperate with related departments such as the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Economy and Finance to pass the preliminary feasibility study within this year, focusing all administrative efforts to ensure the swift promotion of the East-West 3-axis (Seongju?Daegu section) Expressway construction project, which is a central axis for Yeongnam and Honam East-West harmony and balanced national development.

The Seongju?Daegu Expressway is 18.28 km long, and after being selected as a preliminary feasibility study project at the end of last year, the study began in January.

County Governor Lee Byung-hwan said, “Since the beginning of the 7th elected administration, we have continuously pursued the strategy of establishing Seongju as a transportation hub with a comprehensive metropolitan transportation network. We will devote all efforts to passing the preliminary feasibility study and early construction of the Seongju?Daegu Expressway.”
