Muan-gun Holds Canola Flower Festival at Doripo Songgye Beach, a Sunrise Viewing Spot

"Spring, the Sea and Canola Waves, and Rest"

Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 12th that it will hold the "2023 Muan Doripo Canola Flower Festival" over two days on the 15th and 16th at the Canola Flower Scenic Complex in Songgye Beach, Doripo, Haeje-myeon, a famous sunrise spot on the West Coast.

Under the theme of "Spring, the Sea, Canola Flowers, and Rest," this festival boldly excludes formal ceremonies such as the opening ceremony, breaking away from the rigidity of traditional government-led events. It aims to differentiate itself from other festivals by allowing visitors to enjoy music and flowers in a natural, eco-friendly, and relaxed atmosphere.

To fully enjoy the warm spring days, a variety of attractions and activities such as beach street performances, magic shows, children's playgrounds, flea markets, and food trucks are prepared, focusing on welcoming family tourists.

In particular, the festival will carry out the beautiful practice of saving the planet through the "Eco-friendly Plogging Ssudam Walk" campaign, enhancing tourists' pride in participating in social contribution activities and spreading awareness of environmental protection.

This year, new photo zones and walking trails have been created within the scenic complex, and a 7,000㎡ parking lot capable of accommodating 200 vehicles has been installed, strengthening infrastructure to make the festival richer and more convenient.

Additionally, the Songgye Village Association and the Women's Association are participating in operating food markets and local agricultural specialty product sales, making this a model case of a "resident-led festival."

The Canola Flower Scenic Complex in Songgye Village, Doripo, Haeje, where this festival is held, covers an area of 10.7 hectares and is located on the Songgye Pine Forest Beach, offering a quiet and peaceful atmosphere with views of both canola flowers and the sea.

It is connected to Solbaram-gil (1 km), which was selected as a Jeollanam-do forest trail to walk in 2021, making it an ideal place to enjoy a stroll and take a break from daily life.

Moreover, at sunset, visitors can enjoy the romantic and enchanting scenery of the golden sunset over Songgye Beach combined with the colorful lights of Chilsan Bridge. Fresh sashimi is also available at the nearby Doripo fishing port, satisfying all the senses.

A county official said, "Even before the festival begins, the Doripo Canola Flower Scenic Complex is attracting many tourists every week through word of mouth, gaining attention as a new spring flower tourist attraction."
