Mayor Jeong In-hwa Delivers Snacks, Encourages Staff Efforts
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it held the ‘Gwangyang City Supports You’ event in April to strengthen communication among employees and create a vibrant workplace atmosphere.
‘Gwangyang City Supports You’ was organized to boost employee morale and break away from the conventional meeting formats, providing an opportunity for free communication between the mayor and employees.
Mayor Jeong personally brought snacks and visited the Local Economy Division to encourage employees who have worked hard on projects such as the selection for the hydrogen city development project and support programs for small business owners, and to engage in conversation.
On this day, employees of the Local Economy Division openly shared various opinions, discussing topics such as expanding support for small business owners struggling with high interest rates, plans to revitalize the Gwangyang Love Gift Certificate, and difficulties in handling work tasks.
In particular, Mayor Jeong encouraged the employees for their efforts in Gwangyang’s selection for the hydrogen city development project led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport last year, and urged them to further dedicate themselves to fostering the Gwangyang-type hydrogen industry to achieve carbon neutrality.
An employee from the Local Economy Division said, “Spending an hour chatting with the mayor, who usually seemed distant, helped reduce the gap, and I could also feel the mayor’s care for the employees, making it a good time.”
Jeong In-hwa, mayor of Gwangyang City, said, “It was a meaningful time to directly listen to and empathize with the stories of employees working on the front lines for the citizens,” and promised, “If you have any difficulties, do not hesitate to request a conversation with the mayor anytime; I will open my eyes and ears and listen carefully.”
Meanwhile, Gwangyang City operates ‘Gwangyang City Supports You’ once a month, creating a communication platform within the organization that not only fosters lively communication between the mayor and employees but also actively discovers ideas that can help city administration.
