Gyeonggi Province will sound a memorial alert siren for one minute starting at 4:16 PM on the 16th around Danwon-gu Office area in Ansan City to mark the 9th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry disaster.
The province explained that the alert siren is intended to provide a moment of remembrance for the victims in conjunction with the "9th Anniversary Memorial Ceremony of the Sewol Ferry Disaster" held at Ansan Hwarang Amusement Park on the same day.
A provincial official urged, "Since this alert is not a civil defense evacuation siren, residents of Ansan are asked not to be alarmed but to participate in the memorial."
