Encouraging the Fight Instead of Stopping It
Video Shared, Sparking Outrage Among Netizens
A video capturing two men fiercely fighting on the streets of Busan, while bystanders cheer them on like spectators instead of trying to stop them, has sparked controversy.
Recently, a 45-second video titled "Real Situation, Busan Street Fight" was posted on an online community and has been spreading across various communities since the 11th.
In the video, two middle-aged men are seen fighting on a pedestrian street that appears to be Seomyeon in Busan. They are presumed to be intoxicated, clenching their fists and threatening each other. However, their relationship and the reason for the fight are unknown.
Then, the man wearing a gray padded jacket punches the face of the man in a navy padded jacket, knocking him down. He continues to stomp on the fallen man's face and repeatedly punches him.
At this moment, bystanders watching from across the street add cheers such as "Oh my~ Fighter!", "Wow~ GG (a term used at the end of a game)", and "Oh~ lightning punch." When the man in the gray jacket kicks and punches, they burst into laughter, clap their hands, and cheer.
They watch for quite some time and only intervene to stop the fight after the man in the gray jacket has punched 4 to 5 times, and only then does the fight end.
Netizens who watched the video criticized, saying, "The civic consciousness is primitive," "Those cheering should get hit the same way," and "It's not even young people; adults watching and laughing at a fight looks low-class."
One netizen pointed out, "They have no intention of stopping the fight in a public place and instead encourage it by watching," adding, "This is not Fight Club. I hope people realize this is reality."
