On the 10th, Asiana Airlines announced that on the 8th, it conducted a special career lecture on the aviation industry for about 100 local middle and high school students in collaboration with Gangseo English Library.
The lecture held at the auditorium of Seoul Municipal Hwagok Youth Center featured Asiana Airlines' education donation volunteer group instructors: First Officer Shin Jae-ho, Purser Kwon So-yeon, and Senior Engineer Jung Young-hyun. They introduced ▲ study methods to become a pilot, flight attendant, or maintenance technician ▲ job descriptions by occupation ▲ advantages of working as an airline employee. They also provided one-on-one mentoring to address students' actual questions and offer tailored support.
Founded in 2013, the Asiana Airlines Education Donation Volunteer Group consists of employees with specialized aviation knowledge, including active flight crew, cabin crew, aircraft maintenance technicians, flight operations managers, and airport service staff. As the industry's first education donation specialized volunteer group, it has conducted a total of 3,555 lectures for 315,597 young people since its launch. Recognized for its excellence, it won the Education Donation Award for three consecutive years from 2014 to 2016. In 2017, it was inducted into the Education Donation Award Hall of Fame.
In May last year, led by the ESG Management Team, Asiana Airlines resumed the activities of the education donation volunteer group, which had been halted for two years due to COVID-19, expanded the volunteer group from 125 to 180 members, and enhanced its social contribution activities. This year, it conducted the ‘Saekdong Narae Classroom,’ an aviation career lecture program for middle and high schools nationwide. It plans to further expand education donation activities linked with local communities where its business sites, such as Gangseo-gu in Seoul, are located.
