Fifth Child Support Increased from 5 Million to 10 Million KRW
Applicable to children born on or after January 1, 2023, who are registered residents and actually reside in Jung-gu for more than 12 months
Kim Gil-seong, Mayor of Jung-gu: "We aim to ease the childcare cost burden for families and send a message that Jung-gu will be with children from the moment they are born."
Seoul Jung-gu (Mayor Kim Gil-seong) will expand its childbirth and childcare support fund up to 10 million KRW starting this year.
The district announced that the childbirth and childcare support fund will be increased from the previous amounts of 200,000 KRW for the first child, 1 million KRW for the second, 2 million KRW for the third, 3 million KRW for the fourth, and 5 million KRW for the fifth and beyond, to 1 million KRW, 2 million KRW, 3 million KRW, 5 million KRW, and 10 million KRW respectively.
For the first child, the support amount has increased fivefold. Jung-gu is also the only autonomous district in Seoul to raise the support amount up to 10 million KRW.
The expanded support applies to Jung-gu residents who give birth on or after January 1, 2023. They must be registered residents of Jung-gu for at least 12 months from the date of birth and actually reside there. The support fund will be paid in a lump sum.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the local community service center within six months from the date of birth or online through Government24. For further inquiries, contact the Family Policy Division, Childbirth Family Team at Jung-gu Office.
Mayor Kim Gil-seong stated, "The childbirth and childcare support fund is intended to reduce the actual childcare cost burden for families while also conveying the message that Jung-gu will be with children from the moment they are born. Beyond the support fund, we will steadily implement efforts at the local government level to address the low birthrate issue from a broader perspective, including overall childcare systems, residential environments, and employment."
