Jeon Woo-won revealed the interior of the late former President Jeon Du-hwan's residence, which he photographed in August 2019. After passing through a well-maintained garden and opening the front door, a vintage-style reception room and study appear, followed by a spacious living room and kitchen.
Jeon, the grandson of former President Jeon Du-hwan, disclosed in an interview with SBS on the 7th that the Yeonhui-dong residence sits on a 500-pyeong lot. Jeon explained the house layout in detail, even drawing pictures. He illustrated the locations of internal facilities such as the building where security guards reside, a screen golf course, a basketball court, and a swimming pool.
Jeon particularly revealed that there is a secret safe inside the house. He said, “The wall rotates, and behind it was a large safe,” adding, “I also know there is a secret space. Given how absurdly large the scale is at first glance, if you push something, there will be another space.”
Recently, Jeon disclosed that inside this wall there were many bags filled with cash, and former President Jeon Du-hwan would open the bags and give visitors pocket money, sometimes as much as 10 million won.
Jeon's mother, Choi, also added testimony. Choi mentioned a space suspected to store slush funds. In a phone call with her son, she said, “There is a long grandmother’s wardrobe, and at the very end of the wardrobe, there is something; if you push it, a secret space comes out.”
Jeon also revealed a foreign bank account under his name, stating that he had received tuition and living expenses through a nominee account. He added that the source of the study abroad funds was former President Jeon Du-hwan’s slush funds, and the depositor was an employee who worked at the house.
When asked by reporters why he decided to expose this, Jeon said, “What I am saying is not like a drug addict talking about drugs; I am speaking up with courage, so I hope you believe me a little.”
Jeon’s father, Jeon Jae-yong, married Park in 1987, divorced in 1990, and married Choi in 1992. He had two sons with Choi: the eldest Jeon Woo-sung and the second son Jeon Woo-won. From 2003, he maintained a common-law relationship with Park Sang-a, a former Super Talent contestant, divorced Choi in 2007, and officially married for the third time, having two daughters.
