The arrest warrant for professional golfer Ahn Seong-hyun (42), husband of group singer Sung Yu-ri from 'Fin.K.L', was dismissed.
On the 7th, Judge Kim Ji-sook, in charge of warrants at the Seoul Southern District Court, held a detention hearing for Ahn at around 10:30 a.m. and dismissed the warrant.
Judge Kim stated, "Considering the extent of evidence collection and the attitude during testimony, it is difficult to see a risk of planned evidence destruction, and taking into account family relations and other factors, it is hard to find necessity and reasonableness for detention." The principle of non-custodial investigation and the possibility of disputing the charges were also cited as reasons for dismissing the warrant.
Earlier, on the 5th, the Financial Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office (led by Chief Prosecutor Chae Hee-man) requested an arrest warrant for Ahn on charges including fraud and breach of trust under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.
Ahn is accused of receiving several hundred million won from a coin issuing company in exchange for listing a coin from late 2021 to early last year.
