A man in his 20s who broke into someone else's house to steal money to pay a fine for a sexual violence crime and even attempted to take a life was sentenced to prison.

According to the Criminal Division 2 of Changwon District Court in Gyeongnam on the 7th, male defendant A secretly entered the home of a woman in her 40s, B, in an apartment in Changwon at around 2:40 p.m. on October 17 last year after noticing the front door was slightly open, and struck B's head multiple times with a blunt object while she was lying down.

He then threatened her for 10 million won, forcibly took her check card, and attempted to strangle B to death, but fled when she screamed and strongly resisted.

As a result of this incident, B suffered a concussion and was injured to the extent that she required three weeks of treatment.

A had been under police investigation for entering the women's restroom of a commercial building in Seongsan-gu, Changwon City, a month before the crime, and filming a person using the toilet by holding a cellphone under the partition.

It was revealed that he committed the crime to raise money, anticipating that he would receive a fine for the sexual violence charge.

The court sentenced A, who was indicted on charges including attempted robbery and murder, to 10 years in prison, ordered him to complete 40 hours of a sexual violence treatment program, and imposed a five-year employment restriction at institutions related to children, adolescents, and persons with disabilities.

A man who committed a sexual violence crime and was booked, then resorted to robbery to pay the fine and ultimately attempted murder, received a heavy sentence from the court.

The court stated the sentencing reasons, saying, "Considering the circumstances and methods of the crime, the danger of the crime tools, and the extent of the damage, the nature of the crime is extremely bad. The victim experienced great shock and fear and has not yet recovered from the aftereffects, and the defendant has not been forgiven by the victim."
