As Part of Measures to Stabilize High Prices, Reducing Burden on Gun Residents
Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Woo Seung-hee) recently decided to reduce the price of volume-based garbage bags to alleviate the burden on the low-income economy amid rapid inflation.
According to the county on the 7th, the price reduction will take effect from the 1st of next month. The 20ℓ bags, which are most commonly used in households, will be reduced from 540 won to 460 won, a decrease of 80 won, and the 75ℓ bags will be reduced from 2,040 won to 1,730 won, a decrease of 310 won.
This price reduction decision comes at a time when residents are facing increased living expenses due to the recent economic downturn and rising prices. It is expected to help improve the deteriorating economic conditions of residents as well as prevent environmental issues caused by illegal dumping of garbage.
A county official stated, “For volume-based garbage bag sellers (sales outlets), we plan to refund the difference for remaining stock after assessing inventory for this year’s supply, but the reduction will not apply to garbage bags purchased by consumers before the price cut.” He added, “We will continue to make efforts to share the residents’ hardships and enhance convenience in daily life.”
