In April, literary flowers will bloom at three public libraries in Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City.
On the 7th, Nam-gu announced, "To celebrate the 59th Library Week and World Book Day, we will operate various reading culture programs under the theme 'The Light of Culture Shining Without Boundaries, Library' from the 11th to the 30th."
First, the Cultural Information Library will run four programs from the 12th to the 23rd.
These include the original picture book exhibition "My Heart ㅅㅅㅎ" for infants, children, and adults, a "Book Curation" recommending books ideal for spring reading, and "Making My Own Hip Pot," an experience program for making flowerpots and planting plants to welcome spring.
Additionally, there will be an experience program called "My Jincheondang in a Small World," where students from grades 3 to 6 create clay miniatures together.
Furthermore, the library plans to support users' reading culture activities by offering the "Sseuksseuk Late Return Eraser," which clears overdue records for users with borrowing restrictions, and distributing recommended book lists.
Pureungil Library will present five programs over three weeks from the 11th to the 30th.
These include an original picture book exhibition of "The Day to Wear Boots" and an animal postcard-making program where participants put boots on animals featured in the storybook.
Also, the library will operate the "Today for a Moment, (Comma)" program, where visitors read phrases from the literary vending machine installed in the library and share their impressions; "#BookBTI," which recommends and exhibits books based on MBTI keywords; and "I Am an Earth Keeper," an experience program making keyrings using coffee grounds.
Lastly, the Youth Library will start with an original picture book exhibition of So Yoon-kyung's "Hotel Paradise" from the 12th to the 23rd, followed by a series of themed book exhibitions on integrity.
On the 14th, there will be an experience program titled "What Did That Tree See?" where participants plant air-purifying plants and create mini growth record books as an effort to protect the environment; on the 15th, a puppet show "Ggomji and King Nosehole" will be performed; and on the 18th, the "Met Spring at the Library" program will offer spring-themed frame making.
In addition, events such as "Find the Lucky Ticket in the Book," which allows increasing the borrowing limit from 5 to 10 books, and the "My Record, My Own Book Making" program will also be held.
