Purple Island Planting Activity on Arbor Day: Over 1,000 Red Bean Flower Trees Planted

Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Park Woo-ryang) held a volunteer tree planting event under the theme ‘Plant Trees in Purple Island’ on the 5th, Arbor Day, with officials from the Purple Island Management Office, about 40 employees and BJs from AfreecaTV (CEO Jung Chan-yong).

According to the county on the 7th, this activity was organized as part of the online promotion MOU for Shinan-gun festivals signed with AfreecaTV last month.

AfreecaTV has been conducting tree planting volunteer activities every Arbor Day since 2014 together with its BJ volunteer group.

About 40 BJs participated in this ‘Plant Trees in Purple Island’ volunteer activity, including Oh Sebli and DM, who are producing the Island Back 2 Days Purple Island content on AfreecaTV, as well as Kim Hak-su, Tomato, Jo Kyung-hoon, and Grill Laeyoung.

The BJs who participated in this Arbor Day event walked around Banwoldo area of Purple Island, planting about 1,000 purple redbud trees that match the Purple Island theme, and communicated in real-time with users through live streaming, vividly delivering the beautiful scenery of Purple Island online while raising awareness of the need for environmental protection and encouraging participation.

Governor Park Woo-ryang said, “It was even more meaningful to carry out the Arbor Day volunteer activity with AfreecaTV BJs at Purple Island, a world-class tourist destination,” and added, “I express my gratitude to the AfreecaTV employees and BJs who joined in creating a Shinan where flowers bloom all year round for realizing carbon neutrality and establishing forests that block fine dust.”
