Suwon City Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Distribution of Local Currency 'Suwon Pay' Suwon Pay

The city of Suwon in Gyeonggi Province will conduct a comprehensive crackdown until the 28th to prevent the fraudulent circulation of the local currency 'Suwon Pay.'

On the 6th, Suwon City announced that it will identify suspicious merchants involved in fraudulent circulation based on reports from residents received at the Fraudulent Circulation Reporting Center and data extracted through the 'Abnormal Transaction Detection System,' followed by on-site inspections.

The main focus of the crackdown includes ▲operating in restricted business sectors ▲refusal to accept local currency payments ▲discriminatory treatment compared to other payment methods ▲accepting gift certificates without selling goods or providing services.

The city will provide guidance on minor negligence on-site and cancel the registration of merchants operating in restricted sectors. If merchants violate compliance requirements, such as refusing local currency payments or demanding additional fees, actions will be taken in three stages. If the scale and severity of fraudulent circulation are serious, the case will be referred to the police for investigation.

A city official emphasized, "We will establish a sound circulation order for Suwon Pay to revitalize small businesses and the local economy."
