LG Uplus announced on the 6th that it will enhance the efficiency of access and safety management with the 'Powerless Digital Lock,' which can integrate and manage various locking devices within industrial sites at once. To this end, it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the security specialist company 'Platform Base,' which holds related patents.
The MOU signing ceremony held at LG Uplus's Yongsan headquarters was attended by key executives including Janghyuk Lim, Head of LG Uplus Corporate New Business Group, and Beomsu Kim, CEO of Platform Base.

Platform Base has been growing significantly every year since its establishment in 2017, driven by the increasing demand for digital security devices. In September last year, it received the Presidential Award for contributing to the development of public procurement through innovative procurement. Having focused on exploring overseas markets so far, Platform Base decided to collaborate with LG Uplus to expand its domestic sales channels. In March, it exhibited the Powerless Digital Lock at LG Uplus's booth during the '2023 Smart Factory & Automation Industry Exhibition,' attracting great interest from visitors due to its user-friendly operation for workers and efficient management functions for supervisors.
Through this MOU, LG Uplus plans to build digital security infrastructure for factories by supplying its 5G·LTE wireless network together with Platform Base's Powerless Digital Lock. The Powerless Digital Lock is a solution that allows opening and closing after verifying an encrypted value with a smart key, featuring ▲real-time monitoring and recording of opening and closing, with authorization granted only to permitted workers, ▲management of any quantity with a single smart key, ▲low possibility of key duplication and illegal opening, and ▲environmentally friendly operation without batteries.
In particular, since October last year, a clause was added to the 'Industrial Safety and Health Standards Regulations' to manage the access history of workers inspecting electrical rooms with fire extinguishing equipment and hazardous material storage warehouses. It is expected that the utilization of the Powerless Digital Lock, which can manage history through a system, will increase.
The two companies plan to expand the distribution of the Powerless Digital Lock to various industrial sites, including general factories with many locking devices such as material warehouses, as well as chemical and steel plants, power plants, and public institutions with many high-risk facilities. They also agreed to cooperate in developing security solutions that provide more practical benefits to small and medium-sized enterprises in the future.
Janghyuk Lim, Head of LG Uplus Corporate New Business Group, said, "By partnering with Platform Base, the only company with a Powerless Digital Lock solution, we have secured a solution that industrial site managers truly need. We will contribute to innovating locking devices that still remain in analog form despite the trend toward smart industrial sites."
Beomsu Kim, CEO of Platform Base, said, "We expect great synergy by combining Platform Base's technology, which holds the only Powerless Digital Lock solution in Korea, with LG Uplus's wireless communication-based smart factory operation technology."
