Customized Regional Education Task Council Tour Until the End of May
Park Jong-hoon, Superintendent of Education of Gyeongnam, will preside over the 2023 Regional Education Work Council by visiting 18 education support offices in the province until the end of May.
According to the Gyeongnam Office of Education on the 5th, the council started at Tongyeong Education Support Office on the same day and will conclude at Changwon Education Support Office on May 31.
The initiative was promoted to form a consensus on regional education, seek development plans, and secure momentum to complete the future education of Gyeongnam.
Under the theme “Most Regional! Benefiting Everyone!”, it aims to implement the most regionally appropriate education policies to nurture the potential of all students and realize the future education of Gyeongnam.
This council will be conducted as a “region-tailored” format that grants autonomy to education support offices by reflecting local requests.
Each education support office selects the council topics directly, focusing on distinctive features and current issues representing the region, and forms a consensus on regional education.

Superintendent Park meets various personnel, including staff from each education support office, through informal meetings and councils.
In informal meetings, they discuss local issues and cooperation plans, while in the councils, they listen to opinions on development plans for healthy growth through coexistence between schools and communities with various educational communities.
The provincial office of education expects the characteristics of region-tailored regional education work councils to stand out, such as Jinju Education Support Office’s “Falling in Love with Ena Jinju” to inherit Jinju Eol, Geoje Education Support Office’s “New Teachers Talk about Gyeongnam Education,” and Yangsan Education Support Office’s “Beyond Differences to Future Education!”
On the 5th, the regional education work council was held at Tongyeong Education Support Office under the theme “Activation Plan for Tongyeong’s Distinctive Education Benefiting Everyone.”
The informal meeting was attended by the city council chairman and provincial assembly members, who shared opinions on student support plans utilizing Tongyeong’s local resources and expanding student experiential activity sites.
In the council, local school principals, parents, and school operation committee members brainstormed development plans for Tongyeong’s history education, cultural arts education, and ecological environment education.
Superintendent Park said, “The basic principle of autonomy is to open up so that decisions and executions can be made at a small unit,” adding, “We will realize autonomy through this region-tailored regional education work council, which is planned and created proactively by education support offices, and strive further for balanced development of Gyeongnam education.”
