Wisdom Learned from Tradition... Busan Dongnae Education Support Office Operates 'Hyanggyo Character Theme Tour'

Students in Dongnae-gu, Busan had a special time learning the wisdom of their ancestors and establishing proper character and values through traditional etiquette and cultural education.

The Dongnae Office of Education in Busan has been operating the ‘Dongnae Hyanggyo Character Theme Tour’ program at Dongnae Hyanggyo from the 4th of this month until September 21st, targeting 695 fourth-grade elementary school students in the district.

This program is a course where students experience traditional etiquette and culture at Dongnae Hyanggyo and learn the wisdom and scholar spirit of their ancestors, aimed at helping students form proper character and values.

Participating students engage in activities such as ▲wearing Hanbok properly ▲learning the correct bowing method ▲studying Sajaseohak under the guidance of a practical etiquette instructor affiliated with Dongnae Hyanggyo. They also have the opportunity to experience traditional rice cake making through ‘Tteokmechigi’ and taste the rice cakes they make themselves.

Lee Soo-geum, the superintendent of Dongnae Office of Education, said, “This program will greatly help cultivate students’ character, refine their emotions, and develop cooperative communication skills based on respect and consideration.”
