Thomas GOISQUE, a world-renowned travel photographer from France, will showcase the enthusiasm and charm of Busan, the candidate city for the 2030 World Expo, to the world through his artistic work.
Busan City and Renault Korea Motors (CEO St?phane Deblaise) announced that they will invite Thomas GOISQUE to Busan from April 6 to 12 to collaborate on promotional artistic activities for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
This promotion was organized to introduce the capabilities and appeal of Busan, the candidate city for the 2030 World Expo, to the world through Thomas GOISQUE’s photographic works, coinciding with the onsite inspection by the International Bureau of Expositions.
In particular, this promotion was made possible thanks to Renault Korea Motors, which operates a Busan factory in the Noksan National Industrial Complex in Gangseo-gu, actively supporting the invitation of Thomas GOISQUE for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
Thomas GOISQUE is a world-renowned travel photographer from France (French influencer) who mainly captures urban landscapes, beach scenery, mountains, people, industrial scenes, and ports through his camera lens.
Born in France in 1969, he graduated from the National School of Decorative Arts with a major in photography in 1995. Since then, he has worked with Le Monde, Ouest-France, La Croix, Paris Match, and regularly contributes his works to the globally renowned media outlet Le Figaro (with over 44 major reports published).
He has carried out many projects on the global stage, including in Southeast Asia, South Africa, Cambodia, and the Middle East, and this is his first visit to South Korea.
He has received the French Marc Flament Award, and his work was selected as the New York Times Photo of the Year in 2019.
This artistic activity will take place from April 6 to 12, coinciding with the visit of the International Bureau of Expositions onsite inspection team, sketching Busan’s past (Temporary Capital Memorial Hall), present (Haeundae, Gwangalli, etc.), and future (the North Port area), capturing “Busan” through the artist’s perspective with his camera lens.
Professional explanations by cultural tourism narrators will be provided at major shooting locations to enhance the completeness and understanding of the works. In particular, the focus will be on capturing the North Port area, the candidate site for the 2030 World Expo, to creatively and openly introduce the planned Expo site to the world.
The city expects that if the photographs created through this artistic activity are introduced in various media outlets, it will more vividly convey the enthusiasm for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid and the charm of Busan city to the 171 member countries of the International Bureau of Expositions.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun expressed, “I deeply appreciate the great interest and participation of the global company Renault Korea Motors in the 2030 Busan World Expo bid,” adding, “The comprehensive interest, active promotion, and support from companies are a great strength.” He continued, “We will prepare meticulously not only for the onsite inspection by the International Bureau of Expositions but also for the remaining period to ensure that the charm of Busan, South Korea, along with the citizens’ enthusiasm for the bid, is well conveyed to the world.” He concluded, “We will repay those who have helped us so far with good results.”
Renault Korea Motors plans to provide active support locally in Paris, where its group headquarters is located, as the 4th competitive presentation (PT) by the International Bureau of Expositions is scheduled for June.
