Viewing of 'Diorama and Video' Realized by 2030 Busan X4
Host Candidate Site Bukhang, Confirming Experiential and Differentiated Advantages
Busan City is creating the '2030 Busan World Expo Promotion Video Hall' by utilizing part of the North Port Redevelopment Promotion Center at Busan Port International Passenger Terminal, and will open it in line with the visit schedule of the onsite inspection team from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).
In the promotion video hall, visitors can experience the symbolic significance of North Port, which fully captures the process of Busan's modernization, in a three-dimensional way, while simultaneously confirming the distinctive advantages that Busan and North Port hold as candidate sites for hosting the 2030 World Expo.
Upon entering the video hall, visitors first see visual information through a diorama depicting the future site of the 2030 Busan World Expo. Then, through interactive mapping technology that allows interaction between the diorama and the video, visitors are guided to North Port in 2030.
The main screen where the video is projected is a large screen measuring 6.6m (L) × 2.3m (H), utilizing two high-output, high-resolution beam projectors. The diorama, measuring 3.3m (L) × 2.4m (H) and representing the expo site, was produced using a 3D printer.
A diorama refers to the installation of a scaled model against a backdrop of landscapes or paintings to create or arrange specific scenes such as historical events, natural scenery, or urban landscapes.
To support the promotion activities for attracting the 2030 Busan World Expo, LG Electronics provided a 55-inch transparent OLED touch signage to the promotion video hall, enabling visitors to intuitively watch promotional videos for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
Through the advanced transparent OLED touchscreen, when the video show mode on the signage is activated, a waiting video of about 30 to 40 seconds is displayed, featuring media art visualizing the World Expo logo as waves of people, cooperation, harmony, and innovation. Following this, visitors can watch an 8-minute video that allows them to experience the past and present of North Port, its geographical advantages, the realized image of the 2030 Busan World Expo site, and the future of North Port.
Subsequently, through interactive videos, additional explanations and Q&A sessions are provided to enhance the understanding of domestic and foreign guests seeking more information.
The videos are offered in four languages?Korean, English, Spanish, and French?and will be actively used for promoting the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo.
After an immersive experience in the video hall, visitors can go up to the outdoor deck of the Sky Garden at Busan Port International Passenger Terminal to directly view the scenery of North Port.
The 55-inch outdoor kiosk installed here allows visitors to explore the current view of North Port through a 360-degree virtual reality (VR) screen and to operate the touchscreen to check the future expo site and facilities to be realized.
The 2030 Busan World Expo Promotion Video Hall will be open not only on weekdays (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), which are the operating hours of the North Port Redevelopment Promotion Center, but also on Saturdays (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), a public holiday, so that citizens can enjoy it more easily in the year when the decision to host the 2030 Busan World Expo is made.
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “With the opening of this promotion video hall, visitors will be able to experience interactive mapping technology between the diorama and video and learn about the 2030 Busan World Expo in an immersive way.” He added, “In particular, it is expected to be a special experience to confirm the future realization of the expo site through the diorama and understand it through the video.”
