Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that it will implement special safety management measures for the 'Spring Festival of the Lake' held at Seokchon Lake from April 5 to 9.

This festival focuses primarily on strengthening safety management for visitors to the lake.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “Although the cherry blossoms bloomed a little early and the full bloom has passed, the remaining blossoms still fall like flower rain, allowing people to feel the atmosphere of spring.” He added, “Various performances and experience booths are set up throughout the lake, so we hope many people come and safely enjoy the spring.”

Songpa-gu Puts Full Effort into Safety Management from Cherry Blossom Bloom to Ending Seogang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, visited Seokchon Lake on the weekend of April 1, ahead of the festival, to conduct a safety inspection.

In preparation for an influx of visitors before the festival due to the earlier-than-usual blooming, on March 29, Mayor Seo Gang-seok chaired a safety management meeting attended by related organizations including Songpa Police Station, Songpa Fire Station, Korea Electric Power Corporation, Lotte Property & Development, KT, and Jamsil Station of subway lines 2 and 8.

Last weekend, on-site inspections were conducted to prevent safety accidents related to visitor movement and electrical installations for landscape lighting, ensuring thorough preemptive measures against hazards.

In particular, the district invested 20% of the total festival budget in safety management costs, focusing on preventing accidents caused by crowd density.

First, over five days, 200 safety professionals, 500 volunteers, and 300 district office staff will be deployed to strengthen order maintenance among visitors. Especially, one-way traffic will be guided to move around Seokchon Lake in a counterclockwise direction to maintain crowd flow and prevent accidents such as collisions.

Additionally, a total of 43 entrances and exits to Seokchon Lake will be strictly managed. Through focused control such as regulating steep downhill areas and crowd density, preparations have been made so that visitors can safely and enjoyably appreciate the flowers.

Simultaneously, to manage crowd density at Seokchon Lake, real-time concentrated monitoring will be conducted through the Songpa CCTV Control Center during the festival period. If severe crowding (where the distance between people is less than 30cm and passage is hindered) is detected, entry will be temporarily restricted immediately in cooperation with related organizations.

Furthermore, a medical center staffed with emergency medical technicians will operate to prepare for emergencies, and a lost child protection and lost-and-found center will be established to promptly respond to visitor inconveniences.

The 'Spring Festival of the Lake' allows visitors to fully enjoy the scent of flowers and the beautiful emotions of spring. Starting with the opening ceremony 'Welcoming the Cherry Blossoms' at 6 p.m. on the 5th, various genre performances will be held over five days, and on the 9th at 5 p.m., the Cherry Blossom Full Bloom Concert will take place, where visitors can enjoy the falling cherry blossom rain. Especially at night, lighting will be installed along the 2.6 km lakeside walking path to illuminate 1,120 cherry blossom trees from below, offering a mesmerizing night view.

Seo Gang-seok, Mayor of Songpa-gu, said, “As this is the first festival in four years, we have made thorough preparations to ensure the safe viewing and convenience of all visitors to the lake.” He added, “We hope many people come to the beautiful spring story 'Spring Festival of the Lake' and safely enjoy a happy spring in Songpa.”
