According to Chungnam Province on the 4th, on that day, Leader Kim inspected the status of wildfire suppression, damage situation, and future countermeasures at the integrated command center near Neungdong Village Hall in Jung-ri, Seobu-myeon, Hongseong County.
At this meeting, the province and Hongseong County requested Leader Kim to urge the government to declare a special disaster area and provide special grants and contingency funds.
In response, Leader Kim said, "I could confirm with my own eyes that the damage is severe," and added, "Given the scale of the damage, the government should declare it a special disaster area and actively provide support." He also stated, "Regarding contingency funds, I will consult with related ministries to ensure actual support is provided, focusing on areas facing difficult situations."
After receiving a report at the integrated command center, Leader Kim moved to the suppression site to encourage the firefighting personnel and spent time consoling the evacuees at Galsan Middle School shelter.
Meanwhile, a special disaster area is declared by the president when it is recognized that "special national-level measures are necessary" to effectively manage and recover from damage caused by large-scale disasters such as fires.
When declared a special disaster area, some costs such as housing damage, public facility restoration, and indirect expenses like health insurance premiums can be supported by national funds.
