[Special Stock] EM&I Contributes to Domestic Production of High-Nickel Cathode Materials... Secures Funding and Establishes US Partnership System

EM&AI is showing strong performance. The news that the company is promoting a business to process high-purity lithium hydroxide used in high-nickel cathode materials appears to be influencing its stock price.

As of 2:11 PM on the 4th, EM&AI is trading at 5,300 KRW, up 6.21% from the previous day.

EM&AI, a specialist in organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials, announced on the 4th that it successfully promoted the excellence of Schr?dinger software at the International Conference on Display Technology (ICDT) 2023.

Schr?dinger (SDGR) is a Nasdaq-listed company with a market capitalization of approximately $1.9 billion (2.5 trillion KRW). Utilizing software development technology, it conducts new drug candidate discovery, chemical and process simulations, among other activities. EM&AI supplies software and related technologies to Korea, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong based on its partnership with Schr?dinger.

ICDT was an international conference held in Nanjing, China, from the 31st of last month to the 3rd. Sponsored by the Society for Information Display (SID) in the United States, over 1,000 experts from 17 technical fields worldwide participated. Major Chinese display companies such as BOD and TCL, as well as Universal Display Corporation (UDC), a U.S. company holding core patents for OLED phosphorescent materials, attended.

An EM&AI representative explained, "Schr?dinger software offers advantages in reducing production and development costs during the process of discovering new materials due to its fast speed and high accuracy." The Schr?dinger software can predict factors essential for developing next-generation QD-LED TV materials, including ▲movement of inorganic particles in solution ▲contact angle between ink droplets and substrates ▲volatility characteristics of solvents.

Based on collaboration with Schr?dinger, EM&AI will also accelerate the development of secondary battery materials. On the 28th of last month, the company raised 15.3 billion KRW by issuing convertible bonds (CB) and bonds with warrants (BW). Of the raised funds, 9.3 billion KRW will be used for ▲secondary battery material development and raw material procurement with Schr?dinger ▲investment in domestic and overseas secondary battery material production facilities. The remaining 6 billion KRW will be allocated to OLED material development, facility investment, and raw material procurement.

A company official stated, "We plan to generate sales by processing high-purity lithium hydroxide used in high-nickel cathode materials," adding, "This will reduce the high dependence on Chinese lithium hydroxide and contribute to localization."

Regarding existing businesses, the official added, "With the global demand for OLEDs in smartphones, tablets, and automotive displays increasing, we expect to achieve significantly higher operating profits compared to the previous year," emphasizing, "We will focus on developing new materials in line with the 8th-generation production investments of major display companies."
