Sejong Telecom (CEO Lee Byung-guk), a period telecommunications company and ICT platform enterprise, announced on the 4th that it is strengthening its market presence by launching a cloud-based version of its endpoint security solution, ‘TroyCut’.
The main feature of this new product is that it allows the establishment of an APT (Advanced Persistent Threat) ransomware security solution at a reasonable cost without any initial investment. Unlike existing security solutions that require initial investment costs for building monitoring systems, hardware, and servers, the ‘TroyCut Cloud’ version can be used simply with an internet connection. Therefore, it is an optimized service for small and medium-sized enterprises, startups, and one-person companies that recognize the importance of security solutions but face various challenging conditions.
According to a survey conducted by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) in August last year, about 95% of small and medium-sized enterprises experienced cyber intrusion incidents such as hacking and malware infections. Due to a lack of security budgets and dedicated personnel, many companies are aware of the threats but fail to prepare countermeasures. The industry even estimates that a significant number of companies are unaware of cyber attacks altogether. Cyber attacks targeting security-vulnerable small and medium-sized enterprises are expected to increase, raising growing concerns.
To address these concerns, Sejong Telecom’s new cloud-based (ASP) ‘TroyCut’ solution offers an efficient security solution for small businesses that are defenseless against cybercrime.
‘TroyCut’ is a security solution that determines whether actions executed within a computer, such as keyboard and mouse operations, are performed directly by the user, proactively blocking malicious activities that the user is unaware of. The cloud-based (ASP) solution provides the same functions as TroyCut but at a reduced cost. It blocks data hacking, ransomware attacks, and zombie PC attacks. Unlike the original TroyCut, which required companies to build their own servers, TroyCut Cloud (ASP) reduces cost burdens by building servers at Sejong Telecom’s IDC. Customers (companies) only need to purchase and install the agent to receive the security solution. Payment can be made on a monthly or yearly basis, allowing customers to choose according to their financial situation.
Kang Hyo-sang, Vice President of Sejong Telecom’s Telecommunications Business Division, stated, “The damage caused by cyber intrusion incidents such as leakage of important corporate technology and internal information or disruption of production processes is much greater than the budget for building security solutions. However, small-scale companies often suffer helplessly due to cost burdens. We hope that with the TroyCut Cloud service, anyone can have a high-quality security solution at a reasonable cost and establish a response system that quickly blocks increasingly sophisticated and intelligent security threats,” he emphasized.
