Hyundai Department Store Duty Free, Pet Plant Donation Campaign... "Practicing ESG"

1000 Saplings Planted in Wildfire-Affected Areas

Hyundai Department Store Duty Free announced on the 4th that it will carry out the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) campaign "Regreen Step," which supports improving the living environment of underprivileged local communities and forest restoration by donating companion plants.

Regreen Step is a donation campaign in which Hyundai Department Store Duty Free employees directly participate. Employees grow air-purifying companion plant pots in an indoor garden set up at the office building, which are then collected by Triple Planet and donated to 19 child and elderly welfare organizations located in Gangnam-gu, Jung-gu in Seoul, and the Incheon area. The companion plant pots are collected every two months, and a total of 1,000 companion plant pots are expected to be donated annually.

Hyundai Department Store Duty Free also donates 1,000 saplings for forest restoration in areas affected by wildfires. For every companion plant pot grown by an employee that is donated, Hyundai Department Store Duty Free donates one sapling for forest restoration through a matching grant system. The saplings consist of 220 species of endangered native plants such as Musa basjoo and Abies koreana, and to increase the survival rate of the saplings, they will be cultivated for two years at Triple Planet’s specialized cultivation facility before being planted in wildfire-affected areas.

A representative of Hyundai Department Store Duty Free said, “We launched this campaign to help create a comfortable living environment for underprivileged families facing difficulties in daily life and to contribute, even slightly, to forest restoration. We will continue to make steady efforts to practice ESG management through sharing in the future.”
