Telecom 3 Companies Support Evacuated Residents from Wildfires in Chungnam and Daejeon

As a large forest fire broke out in Hongseong, Chungnam, nearby residents were urgently evacuated, and the three major telecommunications companies launched public support efforts on the 3rd.


The fire occurred the previous day in Seobu-myeon, Hongseong-gun, and spread rapidly due to strong winds, prompting the Korea Forest Service to issue a Level 3 wildfire alert.

SK Telecom has initiated public support for local residents in Hongseong-gun. They delivered relief supplies such as heat packs, wet wipes, blankets, and masks to Seobu Elementary School in Hongcheon-gun, where residents are evacuating. In addition to Hongseong-gun, SK Telecom is providing emergency phone charging services and relief supplies at firefighter gathering points and shelters in the wildfire Level 3 areas of Seo-gu, Daejeon, and Geumsan, Chungnam. SKT stated that they will continue supporting local residents until the wildfire is completely extinguished.


KT installed three mobile base stations and smartphone charging facilities in the wildfire-affected areas of Daejeon and Hongseong. They also provided relief supplies such as ion drinks for evacuees and volunteers and urgently dispatched about ten KT employees as volunteers.

LG Uplus announced that it will provide free phone charging and Wi-Fi services for residents who were urgently evacuated due to the large wildfire in Hongseong, Chungnam. LG Uplus installed an emergency charging post where evacuees at the "Hongseong Seobu Elementary School Evacuation Shelter" near the wildfire site can charge their mobile phones. They also provided mobile routers so residents can use Wi-Fi services.


Meanwhile, SKT stated that there was no damage to wired or wireless networks caused by this wildfire.
