Gumi-si, Welfare Registered Mail Delivery by Postal Workers ... Checking on Vulnerable Households Gumi City and Gumi Post Office signed a business agreement for the 'Welfare Registered Mail Service Project' to eliminate welfare blind spots.

The ‘Welfare Registered Mail Service’ project involves Gumi City selecting households suspected to be in crisis and sending registered mail containing welfare information notices once or twice a month. The postal workers delivering the registered mail from Gumi Post Office assess the living conditions and residential environment of these households, complete a checklist, and report back to Gumi City.

Through this process, the project aims to identify and support households in crisis that fall within welfare blind spots by understanding each household’s situation and linking them to public and private services.

Starting in April, the city and the post office will send welfare registered mail monthly to 100 households suspected to be in crisis. Postal workers will be appointed as honorary social welfare officers, and the post office and city will continue to cooperate to eliminate welfare blind spots.

Gumi City is diversifying its system for discovering households in crisis and is promoting targeted discovery for specific marginalized groups. Through proactive identification and welfare service support, the city is committed to giving hope to neighbors in need and making Gumi a safe city without welfare gaps.
