In particular, this place is a riverside cafe where visitors can enjoy the artificial waterfall of Hongjecheon, making it a highly anticipated healing space in the urban area. The operating hours are from noon to 8 PM, Tuesday through Saturday.

In line with the purpose of “operating as a space for everyone to freely use,” visitors can use the space even if they do not purchase drinks or bring beverages from other stores.

Lee Seongheon, Mayor of Seodaemun-gu, said, “We expect Cafe Pokpo to offer many citizens a moment of relaxation in their lives, and the operating profits will be used for meaningful projects such as those supporting youth.”

Geumcheon-gu Opens Geumcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Center

Open from April 1st until the autumn crop harvest season in November

Opening declaration, plot confirmation, operation regulations guidance, farming education, seedling distribution and planting conducted sequentially

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seonghun) opened the ‘Geumcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Center’ on April 1st.

Geumcheon-gu has been operating the urban agriculture experience center along the Anyangcheon Geumcheonhan-naegyo area (719-5 Doksan-dong left bank) to allow residents to experience farming by cultivating and growing crops themselves in the city.

This year, responding to residents’ requests for garden plot activities, the district adjusted the plot sizes to 7㎡ per plot, creating a total of 380 plots, which were allocated to 380 residents through a public lottery held in March.

The opening ceremony proceeded in the order of ▲opening declaration ▲plot confirmation ▲operation regulations drafting and guidance on precautions ▲farming education ▲seedling distribution and planting. Notably, the operation regulations emphasized eco-friendly management by prohibiting the use of heavy metal fertilizers and pesticides.

Geumcheon-gu provided 24 lettuce seedlings and one hand hoe per garden plot to support residents’ farming activities at the urban agriculture experience center.

Additionally, for residents unfamiliar with farming activities, urban agriculture experts from the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center were invited to provide on-site education on how to plant seedlings, sow seeds, and manage vegetables.

With warm weekend weather continuing, residents who received garden plots gathered in family units, from elderly to children, to till the soil and plant seedlings.

One resident who received a garden plot said, “Winning a plot was as difficult as winning the lottery,” and added, “I am looking forward to the fun of growing and eating food I cultivate myself in the garden.”

Yoo Seonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “I hope the Geumcheon Urban Agriculture Experience Center becomes a place where residents regain vitality in their daily lives by planting and caring for vegetables,” and added, “We will continue to strive to provide residents with various opportunities to experience agriculture.”
