The stock price of HRS, the leading company in the domestic silicone rubber market, is on the rise on the 3rd. This is interpreted as buying demand flowing in following news that the company will supply a large quantity of fireproof silicone fireproofing material to Saeul Nuclear Power Plant Units 3 and 4 (formerly Shin-Kori Units 5 and 6), scheduled for completion in 2024 and 2025, respectively.
As of 9:11 AM, the stock price is trading at 6,500 KRW, up 2.36% compared to the previous trading day. It rose to 6,630 KRW immediately after the market opened. The silicone fireproofing material used in Saeul Units 3 and 4, which began supply earlier this year, is approximately 350 to 400 tons in scale and is expected to be supplied sequentially until 2025.
With the resumption of construction of Shin-Hanul Units 3 and 4 in Uljin, Gyeongbuk, which was halted in 2017 as part of the Moon Jae-in administration's nuclear phase-out policy, it is reported that HRS's silicone fireproofing material will soon be supplied to Shin-Hanul Units 3 and 4.
The silicone fireproofing material produced by HRS for nuclear power plants is used as a fire prevention finishing material during the construction process of nuclear power plants. It is applied as fireproof sealing material not only in nuclear power plants but also in large buildings, hotels, department stores, thermal power plants, chemical plants, and oil refineries to prevent fires. This enables fire resistance that can withstand fire for more than one hour without burning and also prevents the release of toxic gases in the event of a fire. Additionally, it effectively seals openings inside buildings, which are a major cause of fire spread, making it an essential material for nuclear power plant safety.
