Breathing New Life into Geochang Tourism

On the 3rd, Geochang County in Gyeongnam and the Seoul Milk Cooperative Geochang Plant announced that they held a joint industrial tourism promotion business agreement ceremony at the county office situation room, attended by County Governor Goo In-mo and Jeong Yong-hwa, the head of the Seoul Milk Geochang Plant.

The Geochang County-Seoul Milk industrial tourism program, which first launched in 2017, has been held a total of 282 times with 11,182 participants, but was suspended in January 2020 due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

The newly promoted industrial tourism program this year includes a tour of the Seoul Milk Geochang Plant, visits to representative tourist sites in Geochang, and stops at the Geochang traditional market or the Geochang Livestock Cooperative Food Comprehensive Center, running from April to December.

In this business agreement, Geochang County promised to provide better industrial tourism services by supporting cultural tourism interpreters, conducting Haearim industrial tourism performances, offering tourism souvenirs, and providing incentives for attracting group tourists. The Seoul Milk Cooperative Geochang Plant supported the joint promotion of industrial tourism through managing applications and operations and subsidizing bus rental fees.

Governor Goo said, “I am pleased that the Seoul Milk Cooperative Geochang Plant, a local industry representing the clean nature of Geochang, is jointly promoting industrial tourism again,” adding, “We will spare no effort to achieve the highest annual economic ripple effect through diverse content development.”

Plant Manager Jeong said, “During the COVID-19 break, we remodeled the Seoul Milk promotional center to provide better services to tourists,” and added, “We hope Seoul Milk industrial tourism will continue to develop as a tourism product representing a win-win model between the region and the company.”
