Gyeongbuk Province will officially launch a one-stop startup platform, beginning with the opening of applications for the Startup Idea Competition to promote women's entrepreneurship.
The Startup Idea Competition is one of the key projects of the Gyeongbuk Women’s One-Stop Startup Platform. It was designed to early discover outstanding business models and support commercialization for prospective and early-stage women entrepreneurs within the province.
Eligibility is limited to prospective women entrepreneurs residing in Gyeongbuk Province or women-owned startups within five years of establishment, with team participation allowed for up to three members.
Applications will be accepted from the 3rd to the 28th, followed by a document review. Finalists will be selected on May 16, and those chosen will participate in a startup camp offering small-group entrepreneurship capacity-building consulting and support for preparing final presentation materials.
The final judging and awards ceremony will take place on June 13 at the Chilgok-gun Education and Culture Center. Awards will be given separately in the prospective women entrepreneurs category and the early-stage entrepreneurs category. Prize money includes 5 million KRW each for two grand prize winners, 2.5 million KRW each for four excellence awardees, and 800,000 KRW each for four encouragement awardees.
On the day of the final judging, the G-Startup Festival will be held, featuring booths where residents can directly experience product prototypes from prospective and early-stage entrepreneurs participating in the competition or preparing for commercialization.
Gyeongbuk Province has entrusted the operation of the Startup Idea Competition and the one-stop startup platform to the Gyeongbuk Women’s Policy Development Institute’s Regional Saeil Center. The Regional Saeil Center provides personalized services including employment and startup counseling, job placement, and follow-up management to support women’s successful employment and entrepreneurship.
Ha Geum-sook, Director of the Gyeongbuk Women’s Policy Development Institute, said, “We hope many women in the province with creative ideas and talents will participate in this competition,” adding, “We will continue to strive to help women entrepreneurs and prospective entrepreneurs grow into successful women business owners.”
In January, during a work report and discussion session themed “Realizing a Livable Gyeongbuk in the Local Era,” Gyeongbuk Province addressed plans to build a one-stop platform for women’s entrepreneurship to create “a Gyeongbuk where working women lead a happy world.”
Accordingly, the province has linked and reorganized scattered projects such as employment and startup consulting, startup and vocational training, the Startup Idea Competition, the G-Startup Festival, popup store operations, and the formation of a Gyeongbuk women entrepreneurs network to establish a comprehensive startup platform that residents can tangibly experience.
