The Democratic Party of Korea criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol, stating that he must "directly clarify the truth and his stance regarding remarks on the discharge of contaminated water."
On the 1st, Kwon Chil-seung, the chief spokesperson of the Democratic Party of Korea, said at a National Assembly briefing, "Public anxiety is growing over whether the president made remarks about the discharge of Fukushima contaminated water and the import of seafood."
Spokesperson Kwon pointed out, "The presidential office belatedly explained that there were no remarks about contaminated water and that Fukushima seafood would never be imported, but suspicions have not subsided," adding, "The government is only taking a passive stance even though the president's remarks, which are out of touch with public sentiment, are being reported daily in Japanese media."
He continued, "Where has the courage gone that once suppressed our media by saying it was 'nallim' (throwing away) instead of 'Biden'?" and added, "The public suspects that President Yoon may be siding with Japan's position regarding the Dokdo issue, the discharge of contaminated water, and seafood imports."
