Resumption of Old Diesel Vehicle Attachments Scheduled from July This Year
The Ministry of Environment recently announced that it will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the support project for diesel particulate filters (DPF) installed on old diesel vehicles, following suspicions that defective parts were used in the filters. The ministry also plans to promote improvements to related systems.
In cooperation with the ongoing police investigation, the ministry, along with related organizations such as the National Institute of Environmental Research, will thoroughly re-examine the DPF support project starting from the end of March and conduct a wide-ranging inspection to determine any abnormalities in the filters.
To enhance the effectiveness of the investigation, Yeongdeok-gun has temporarily suspended the DPF installation support project, which had been in operation since March, and plans to resume it in July this year.
An official from the county stated, "Although the investigation has delayed the DPF support project for old diesel vehicles until the second half of the year, causing inconvenience to vehicle owners, it is important to ensure that residents can participate in the project with confidence."
