Programs Include Wish Tree Installation, Expo Cheer Song, and Flash Mob Performance
The Expo Dream Expedition Team, carrying the hopes of the entire nation for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo, played a significant role at the support event "Light from Gwanghwa" held at Gwanghwamun Square, coinciding with the on-site inspection by the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE).
Organized by Busan City, the Expo Dream Expedition Team held a departure ceremony on the 29th and began a nationwide tour to carry the hopes of all Koreans for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo.
On the 29th, they visited Daegu, where they informed the citizens about the necessity of hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo through various programs and received enthusiastic support and cheers. On the 30th, they attended the "Light from Gwanghwa" event held at Gwanghwamun Square.
"Light from Gwanghwa" is an important event organized by the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid Committee, held from the 30th of March through April 3rd, to announce the Korean people's desire to host the World Expo, one of the world's three major mega-events, in Busan in 2030, ahead of the BIE on-site inspection.
Top companies from various sectors, including the private bid committee members such as Samsung, Hyundai Kia Motors, SK, and LG, gathered in one place to hold exhibitions and events related to the 2030 Busan World Expo. The venue, Gwanghwamun Square, was also decorated with light sculptures and media art themed around the 2030 Busan World Expo.
The participation of the Expo Dream Expedition Team in this event was to further illuminate the start of the event and to heighten the enthusiasm for Korea's bid.
Considering the great online response to the Expo cheer song "Welcome to Expo," featuring singer Lee Mujin, the Expo Dream Expedition Team held a flash mob event at Gwanghwamun Square using the song and installed a wish tree where supporters could attach their cheering messages, igniting the public's enthusiasm for hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo.
Additionally, in collaboration with the Tourism Promotion Division, the promotional truck used by the Expo Dream Expedition Team was transformed into an urban relaxation space reminiscent of the beautiful image of Busan, providing both entertainment and sightseeing opportunities.
Among the attendees at the event were Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Lee Chang-yang, Secretary-General of the Bid Committee Yoon Sang-jik, and Busan Deputy Mayor Ahn Byung-yoon. Deputy Mayor Ahn also participated in the lighting ceremony performance with key guests, demonstrating a strong commitment to the 2030 Busan World Expo bid.
