University Students Support Educational Activities for Special Education Students!

University students have stepped up to support customized educational activities for students with special educational needs.


The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 31st that from April to July, 43 university students majoring in special education will volunteer to support educational activities for students with special educational needs in kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools.

This volunteer activity is a collaboration between the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education and universities training special education teachers, aimed at providing tailored educational support for students with special educational needs and offering field-centered volunteer opportunities for university students majoring in special education.


On the 20th, the Busan Office of Education assigned 43 university student volunteers majoring in special education from Busan National University, Busan Jangsin University, and Inje University to schools that requested volunteer support.


Subsequently, on the 25th, the university student volunteers received preliminary training on disability rights education and prevention of child abuse and (sexual) violence, and on the 28th, they attended pre-training sessions with school officials on managing educational volunteer activities.


During the volunteer period, the university student volunteers will carry out activities such as supporting classes to increase participation of students with special educational needs, assisting with school events, and helping create learning materials, all under the systematic guidance of active special education teachers.


Jung Dae-ho, Director of Secondary Education at the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, said, “Through cooperation between the city education office and universities, we have been able to support stable participation in educational activities for students with special educational needs who require assistance. We will also operate a substantial support program for these students in the second half of the year, reflecting feedback from schools and university volunteers.”
