2023 KCIA Korea Consumer Industry Assessment 'Accommodation Industry' First Evaluation Results Announcement

KCA Korea Consumer Evaluation announced the first evaluation results of the ‘2023 KCIA Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation Lodging Sector,’ hosted by the Korea Consumer Council and organized by Korea Consumer Evaluation.

This evaluation aims to realize the eight fundamental rights of consumers guaranteed by Article 4 of the Framework Act on Consumers by announcing consumer evaluation results by industry according to the standard industrial classification, and to enhance the value of the companies announced.

Accordingly, the 2023 KCIA Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation ‘Lodging Sector’ is conducted annually to select and introduce to the public companies that have received excellent evaluations based on the actual usage experiences of domestic hotel and lodging facility consumers.

The evaluation is divided into hotel and lodging sectors and conducted by category according to the evaluation phase. Detailed subcategories other than the first announcement category are scheduled to be announced next month. From January to March, a preliminary survey was conducted targeting hotels and other lodging facilities nationwide, reflecting the number of reviews and ratings on portal sites and reservation applications. Candidate notifications were sent to those who received evaluations within approximately the top 32.66% nationwide.

After candidate registration, based on review evaluations from consumers who actually used the companies, excellent companies by region and category are selected and announced according to six final evaluation criteria: △staff friendliness △facility satisfaction △cleanliness satisfaction △response to complaints △accessibility △overall evaluation. The companies finally selected in the first phase for the 5-star hotel category in the hotel sector and the condo/resort category in the lodging sector are as follows.

A representative from Korea Consumer Evaluation stated, “With the transition to the COVID-19 endemic and the recovery of daily life, consumer travel sentiment is easing, and accordingly, demand for lodging is gradually increasing. We hope that the excellent lodging companies announced through this industry evaluation will continue to maintain high-quality rooms and high-level services to provide consumers with satisfying lodging experiences.”
