Song Gap-seok, New Democratic Party Supreme Council Member, "We Must Dive into the Sea Between Extreme Camps"

"A Political Party That Fears Change and Innovation Cannot Survive"

Song Gap-seok, a newly appointed Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 31st, "Between the two camps rushing toward extreme hostile confrontation politics, the unprecedentedly vast sea called the nonpartisan group is the top priority public sentiment we must listen to."

At the Democratic Party Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Song said in a public statement, "I greet you with a heavy sense of responsibility in this important position during difficult times," and added, "I will share my thoughts and determination to realize reconciliation, stability, and unity."

He emphasized, "The ultimate goal of reconciliation is not just to appoint people evenly but to listen to public sentiment," and said, "We must now face head-on the hardships and distrust of those (the nonpartisan group) who have been alienated from politics."

Song said, "I am confident that the change and victory of the Democratic Party will begin precisely at that point," and added, "On the path of reconciliation, whether so-called pro-Myeong or anti-Myeong, or devoted and passionate party members, none should become obstacles."

He stated, "It is obvious that the stability we pursue is not maintaining a constant and comfortable state without any change or difference," and said, "A party that fears change and innovation inevitably risks its existence, and paradoxically, the party's stability will inevitably be broken."

He continued, "We must not forget that public sentiment still demands change and innovation from us, while also watching whether we fully keep the numerous reforms and innovations we promised in the past."

Song was newly appointed as a nominated Supreme Council member through the party personnel reshuffle on the 27th and joined the leadership.
