Kakao Mobility announced on the 31st that it will completely revamp the Kakao T home screen and integrated search function. The plan is to evolve it into a ‘portal-type app’ that provides everything needed for travel based on the destination.
The biggest change is placing the integrated search bar prominently at the front. Introduced in March last year, the ‘Integrated Search’ allows users to enter only the destination and check routes, estimated travel times, and costs for various transportation modes within Kakao T, and complete calls or reservations all at once.
Kakao Mobility enhanced the search performance by adding a ‘My Car Use’ filter that allows users to immediately select home, work, or recent destinations when entering a destination, or to view only the transportation modes needed when traveling by private car. Additionally, transportation modes can be sorted and compared by recommendation order, shortest time, or lowest price. For example, if a user in Seoul enters Haeundae as the destination in the integrated search bar, they can compare travel information at a glance for transportation modes such as airplane, KTX, taxi, navigation, parking, designated driver, and rental car to make a decision.
Setting the departure time to check future travel information and reserving services has also become more convenient. When entering a destination in the integrated search bar, users can check future travel information for each transportation mode, including public transit, taxi, and navigation.
‘Future Travel Information’ is a feature that predicts traffic information at a specific future time through big data analysis and traffic prediction algorithms. Based on these search results, users can conveniently reserve their desired transportation modes such as taxi, designated driver, train, and intercity bus.
Meanwhile, at the bottom of the home screen, users can easily check the details of services currently in use or reserved, and a ‘View All’ button has been added to allow users to see all the various transportation services provided by Kakao T at a glance.
Ryu Geung-seon, CEO of Kakao Mobility, said, “Kakao T has evolved beyond a simple calling app into a ‘mobility portal’ that contains everything needed for travel,” and added, “We will continue to innovate our services to become a partner that can resolve all concerns and inconveniences related to travel.”
