BigWave Robotics Secures 10 Billion KRW Series A Funding

RaaS Platform Marosol Operation
Recognized as an Innovative Business Model

BigWave Robotics (CEO Kim Min-kyo), which operates the Robotics as a Service (RaaS) platform 'Marosol,' announced on the 31st that it has secured 9.8 billion KRW in Series A funding. This round of investment included participation from existing investor KB Investment and new investors Mirae Asset Capital, Shinhan Venture Investment, We Ventures, and Ace Stone Ventures. This funding round comes about a year after the pre-Series A investment in 2021, bringing the total accumulated investment to 11.3 billion KRW.

Marosol, created to resolve the information asymmetry in the robot industry that was supplier-oriented, is a platform that recommends and supplies optimal robot solutions tailored to the customer's situation and environment. It has established partnerships with about 400 companies, accounting for 80% of domestic robot solution providers. When customers upload videos of the processes they wish to automate, the platform analyzes over 20,000 cases in its extensive automation database by scenario and matches them with the optimal suppliers and products.

To promote the rapid dissemination and adoption of robots, various additional products have also been launched. Financial products such as leasing have been introduced to reduce initial cost burdens, and robot-specific insurance products and a used robot marketplace have been successively unveiled to address obstacles to robot adoption. Recently, Marosol launched 'Solink,' an integrated control system that allows monitoring and task assignment for robots from various manufacturers all at once.

Marosol achieved sales of 900 million KRW in its first year of service in 2021, followed by 5.1 billion KRW in sales last year, surpassing the break-even point. This year, it aims for sales of 20 billion KRW. Through this investment, BigWave Robotics plans to strengthen its robot solution competitiveness, advance Solink technology, and establish a nationwide 24-hour service network to provide customers with optimal robot solutions in a one-stop manner.

Kim Min-kyo, CEO of BigWave Robotics, said, "Previously, only some large corporations with massive capital and dedicated personnel could adopt robots. We will build a healthy ecosystem where small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners can easily adopt and better utilize robots by providing a subscription-based RaaS product that they can trust from adoption to aftercare."
