On the 31st at 2 p.m., Busan City will sign a 'Business Agreement for the Promotion of the 2030 World Expo Bid' with the Korea Tourism Organization, Songdo Marine Cable Car, and Haeundae Blueline at the City Hall International Protocol Room.
This business agreement was prepared to pledge mutual cooperation among these institutions and companies in preparation for the visit of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) inspection team and to enhance the enthusiasm for the 2030 World Expo bid through the 'Bugihyo' campaign and promotional activities targeting domestic and international tourists.
At the signing ceremony, Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Kim Jang-sil, President of the Korea Tourism Organization, Choi Hyo-seop, CEO of Songdo Marine Cable Car, and Bae Jong-jin, CEO of Haeundae Blueline, are scheduled to attend in person and sign the business agreement.
According to this agreement, the four institutions and companies will carry out promotional activities for Busan's bid to host the 2030 World Expo by utilizing Busan's tourist facilities, Songdo Marine Cable Car and Haeundae Blueline Park, targeting domestic and international tourists.
In particular, they will actively cooperate in the 'Bugihyo' campaign supporting the 2030 World Expo bid, which started on the 24th.
Songdo Marine Cable Car and Haeundae Blueline will provide full free wrapping advertisements for the 'Bugihyo' campaign and will spare no support at the campaign sites. Along with this, the Korea Tourism Organization will also jointly conduct the 'Bugihyo Online and Offline Campaign' with Busan City.
Kim Jang-sil, President of the Korea Tourism Organization, said, “Based on our organization's experience, we will actively cooperate to build consensus and foster a supportive atmosphere among domestic and international tourists for the 2030 Busan World Expo bid,” adding, “It is very meaningful to contribute as citizens of the Republic of Korea to hosting one of the world's three major mega-events, the World Expo.”
Mayor Park Hyung-jun said, “The 2030 World Expo, which South Korea is currently competing to host, is a registered expo, known as an economic and cultural Olympics, different in scale from recognized expos such as the Daejeon and Yeosu Expos,” and added, “If it is hosted in Busan in 2030, it will become a growth engine that will transform the economic structure not only of Busan but of the entire Republic of Korea.”
Mayor Park also stated, “We will put all administrative efforts into the process from the on-site inspection to the 4th competitive presentation in June and the final selection of the host city in November to ensure that the 2030 World Expo is successfully hosted in Busan, running at full speed until the very end.”
