Yongsan-gu Public Wonhyo and Hannam Daycare Centers to be Completed Within the Year
Improving Energy Efficiency and Childcare Environment, Minimizing Childcare Gaps During Construction
Selected for Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Green Remodeling Contest, Secured 340 Million KRW in National and City Funds
Yongsan-gu is promoting a 'Green Remodeling' project to create an eco-friendly childcare environment targeting aging public daycare centers.
Green Remodeling is a project aimed at improving energy efficiency in public buildings that are over 10 years old. It enhances the building's energy efficiency and air quality through the installation of high-performance windows, insulation reinforcement, and high-efficiency heating and cooling systems.
As of March 2023, there are a total of 36 public daycare centers in the area, of which 28 have been completed over 10 years ago.
Last year, Green Remodeling was carried out on two daycare centers built in the 1970s and one daycare center built in the 1980s.
This year, the district is investing a total of approximately 515 million KRW, including 340 million KRW in national and city funds secured through participation in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's 'Public Building Green Remodeling Contest,' to carry out the project.
In April, after finalizing designs reflecting the conditions of the public Wonhyo Daycare Center (Wonhyo-ro 41ga-gil 14-19) and Hannam Daycare Center (Daesagwan-ro 5-gil 1), construction is scheduled to be completed within the year.
The public Wonhyo Daycare Center, built in 1989, is a two-story building with one basement floor and a total floor area of 514.8㎡, caring for 55 children. Plans include installing exterior wall insulation, high-performance windows, replacing heating and cooling systems, and other repairs.
The public Hannam Daycare Center, built in 2006, has an area of 312.24㎡ and currently accommodates 46 children. Located on the second basement floor of the Hannam-dong Community Center building, it has windows on only one side, causing difficulties in air circulation.
This project will significantly improve indoor air quality by installing high-performance windows, heating and cooling systems in the kitchen, and ventilation devices.
On the 14th, the district submitted Baeksong, Cheongpa, and Sowol Daycare Centers as candidates for the next Green Remodeling project to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The selection results will be announced in September.
Kim Seonsu, Acting Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "Responding to climate change and creating a comfortable childcare environment has become an essential element of child care. We will do our utmost to minimize childcare gaps and care for children under better conditions."
Dongjak-gu Opens Three Public Daycare Centers in the First Half of the Year
Gomdori Daycare Center Opens on April 3, Total of 71 Centers Operating... Focus on Improving Childcare Quality
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Ilha) announced on the 31st that three public daycare centers opened in the first half of this year.
Starting with Kkumbit Hana (Deungyong-ro 9-gil 5) and Shindaebang Nuri (Shindaebang 1-da-gil 19) Daycare Centers on March 2, the 'Gomdori Daycare Center' (Seodal-ro 90) within the Heukseok Xi Apartment complex will open on April 3.
The newly opened Gomdori Daycare Center was established to minimize childcare gaps for new apartment residents by aligning the opening with the move-in period.
It is a three-story building with a total floor area of 786㎡, including childcare rooms, teacher rooms, a kitchen, and an auditorium, and is located near Seodalsan and Dalma Park, providing a nature-friendly environment.
It consists of two classes each for ages 0 to 2 and one class each for ages 3 to 5, with a total capacity of 88 children.
Including these three new centers, Dongjak-gu now operates a total of 71 public daycare centers, with six out of ten young children in Dongjak-gu using public daycare centers.
Furthermore, the district is actively supporting improvements in childcare quality by expanding support for infant and toddler meal and snack costs (from 13,000 KRW to 20,000 KRW per month) and establishing a 'Maternal and Child Health Center' that provides one-stop health management during pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting.
Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak-gu, said, "We will implement various demand-oriented childcare policies to create a childcare environment where 'children are happy, and parents can work with peace of mind.'"
