Gyeongnam Nonghyup Strengthens Export Competitiveness of Dan-gam Persimmons

Temporary General Meeting and Launch Ceremony of the Persimmon Export Integrated Organization Held

On the 30th, Gyeongnam Nonghyup held a temporary general meeting of the Korea Persimmon Export Corporation and a launch ceremony commemorating the start of business as this year's export integration organization at the Nonghyup Gyeongnam Headquarters conference room, attended by 16 heads of persimmon-producing Nonghyup cooperatives.

At the temporary general meeting, the election of executives, approval of new member admissions, establishment of regulations to revitalize organizational operations, and the 2023 business promotion plan were shared, and it was resolved to expand persimmon exports using the newly secured budget.

The Korea Persimmon Export Corporation, selected as the government-supported export integration organization this year, was proactively established by Gyeongnam Nonghyup in 2016 to unify the shipment channels of persimmon-exporting Nonghyup cooperatives in Gyeongnam Province and strengthen export competitiveness. It has played a significant role in supply-demand adjustment and domestic price support through export activation.

However, since export logistics cost support will be abolished from 2024 and government support will be provided to export integration organizations by product category, the Korea Persimmon Export Corporation was designated as the ‘Persimmon Export Integration Organization’ and approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. As a result, a new export budget was secured this year.

Kim Ju-yang, the head of the headquarters, said, “Due to aging farmers and a shortage of farming labor, the cultivation area is decreasing and farming material costs are rising, increasing the burden on farmers. With the newly secured budget this year, we will expand persimmon exports by producing high-quality persimmons and strengthening overseas promotions.”
