Gokseong-gun Selected for 'Immersive Experience Center Development Support Project'

Introducing New Library Content Integrating Advanced Technology

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Sangcheol Lee) announced that it has been selected for the "2023 Public Library Immersive Experience Center Creation Support Project" hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The "2023 Public Library Immersive Experience Center Creation Support Project" is a project to build interactive immersive content using augmented reality and virtual reality. Out of the total project budget of 170 million KRW, 85 million KRW of national funding has been secured.

This project is scheduled to be implemented on the 2nd floor of the Munhwa Nuri Library (tentative name), which will be built this year in Gokseong-eup, in the "Interactive Storytelling Room." Using the latest IT technology, an immersive environment will be created that plays immersive stories on all five surfaces, including walls and floors. In addition, by utilizing story-based content, children will be able to interact with characters in the books and vividly enjoy the world of stories.

After the library opens, programs using new content such as experience center tours through the website and interesting experiential activities with storytelling teachers will be operated.

A county official said, "We aim to provide a service that combines books with the latest trend of immersive content. We hope that children and local residents can experience changes in science and technology through the library and have a future-oriented new reading experience."
