Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kang Jong-man) announced on the 30th that from the 3rd to the 28th of next month, it will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on the illegal distribution of Yeonggwang Sarang Gift Certificates for the first half of this year to ensure their proper use and to eradicate illegal circulation.
The county will analyze data in advance from the integrated gift certificate management system and the Yeonggwang Sarang Card abnormal transaction detection system by deploying dedicated personnel, operate an illegal distribution reporting center, and carry out on-site inspections based on the received reports.
The main targets of the crackdown include acts such as receiving or exchanging gift certificates without providing goods or services, receiving or exchanging gift certificates through transactions exceeding the actual sales amount, operating a franchise in restricted business sectors, refusing gift certificate payments, and treating gift certificate payments less favorably compared to other payment methods.
In particular, if illegal distribution activities are detected as a result of the crackdown, franchise registration will be canceled and fines of up to 20 million KRW will be imposed in accordance with relevant laws, and users involved in illegal distribution will also be actively subject to recovery of unfair profits.
A county official stated, “We will strongly respond to illegal distribution activities of Yeonggwang Sarang Gift Certificates and make efforts to systematically manage the gift certificates and establish a sound distribution order.”
