Uiryeong-gun Selected as the Best Institution Nationwide for Disaster Prevention Project Evaluation

Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, was selected as the best institution nationwide among 162 cities, counties, and districts in the 2022 Disaster Prevention Project Implementation Evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

Only two local governments nationwide were selected as the best, with Uiryeong-gun and Inje-gun receiving the honor. With Uiryeong-gun chosen as the top institution nationwide, it secured 1.5 billion KRW in national funding.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety selected and announced the top scorers through on-site and document evaluations targeting 16 cities and provinces and 1,476 districts, focusing on the establishment and implementation of safety management measures for project sites in the first half of the year and the enhancement of budget execution in the second half, to ensure substantial progress in disaster prevention projects.

Uiryeong-gun was evaluated as excellent in all aspects of project implementation performance and execution results across major evaluation indicators, including the interest of the head of the institution, disaster risk improvement districts, steep slope collapse risk areas, disaster-risk reservoirs, and small rivers.

County Governor Oh Tae-wan said, "Nothing is more important than the lives and safety of our residents. This selection as the best institution is even more meaningful," and added, "This year as well, let us protect the safety and property of our residents thoroughly through proactive and swift disaster prevention projects."

Uiryeong-gun was selected as the best institution nationwide in the disaster prevention project evaluation and was also chosen as an excellent institution for disaster prevention projects consecutively in 2021 and 2022. Additionally, it has been selected as an excellent institution for four consecutive years in the disaster management evaluation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and has been recognized as an excellent institution for three consecutive years in the local river maintenance evaluation conducted by Gyeongnam Province.
