Uiryeong-gun Wins Excellence Award for 'Uiryeong Kalla Jeombbang' at Gyeongnam Tourism Expo

Uiryeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, won the 'Excellence Award' at the Gyeongnam Tourism Product Development Awards held at the Gyeongnam Tourism Expo. Uiryeong-gun received the 'Excellence Award' for the second consecutive year following last year.

At the Gyeongnam Tourism Expo held for three days from the 23rd to the 25th at the Changwon Convention Center (CECO), Uiryeong-gun received high marks for its tourism revitalization ideas, regional tourism activation activities, and achievements.

Following last year's pop-up store concept 'Uiryeong Jeombbang,' which sold the nine scenic spots of Uiryeong, this year the county operated 'Uiryeong Color Jeombbang,' a concept that added color to Uiryeong, promoting the 'Colorful Uiryeong Pop-up Store' that emphasized the diverse colors of Uiryeong tourism.

The Patriotic Righteous Army (Hongui General Festival) was associated with 'Red,' Hanwoo Mountain azaleas with 'Deep Pink,' the Patriotic Righteous Army Forest Waterside Park with 'Fuchsia Pink,' Manggae rice cake with 'Mint Green,' the Cloud Bridge with 'Blue,' and the Uiryeong Rich Festival with 'Yellow,' linking major tourist attractions with colors to promote and showcase 'Colorful Uiryeong.' This approach resonated strongly with the MZ generation, who value image and individuality and seek their own unique colors.

Additionally, items representing the meaning of Uiryeong's colors were distributed through a spinning event, and visitors shared their wishes by hanging them on the Rich Rock and Cauldron Rock, key contents of the Uiryeong Rich Festival, collectively hoping for their desires. Promotional leaflets were also produced in postcard format and distributed in pockets, creating the atmosphere of a 'Jeombbang' selling 'Uiryeong Tourism.'

A county official said, “Uiryeong-gun is well known as a local government that always presents new ideas and various attempts at expos,” adding, “We strongly recommend Uiryeong-gun as a sensory-satisfying travel destination where visitors can fully enjoy a variety of colors.”
