Jeon Uwone's Return Sparks Attention on Appearance
"Still a Criminal" Criticism Also Raised
Jeon Woo-won, the grandson of Jeon Du-hwan, was arrested on drug use charges and underwent police investigation. Amid this, Jeon's appearance has become a topic of discussion and controversy among some netizens.
On the 28th, Jeon returned to Korea from the United States, expressing his intention to apologize to the bereaved families and victims of the May 18 Democratic Uprising. The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit executed an arrest and search warrant issued by the court as soon as Jeon arrived. At the time, Jeon was arrested wearing formal attire, including a white dress shirt, a navy tie, and a black coat.

After Jeon's photo was released through the media, numerous posts evaluating his appearance appeared on some online communities. One community post was titled, "What’s up with Jeon Du-hwan’s grandson? He arrived today and is so handsome."
Netizens responded with comments such as "He deserves a Hong Kong Film Award," and "I saw his photo alongside Yoo Ah-in’s article, and this guy looked better."
However, some criticized the focus on Jeon's appearance amid his criminal acts, saying it was inappropriate. Comments included, "He committed a drug crime, so why do people focus on his face first?" and "There are many complicated issues involved, but focusing only on the person's appearance clouds the essence of the problem."
Other netizens expressed discomfort, saying, "At the end of the day, he’s just someone involved in prostitution and drugs. Let’s not praise him," "Wake up. Why praise a criminal?" and "From the broadcasts, he seems like someone who wants attention; people like anything these days."
Visited Gwangju on the 30th morning to meet May 18-related groups

This is not the first time Jeon's appearance has drawn attention. On the 17th, during a YouTube broadcast, when a netizen asked about hair loss, Jeon replied, "I’m scared of when I might turn into a squid," and "I came out into the world when people showed even a little interest." When asked if he was taking hair loss medication, he answered, "Why take it if it’s going to fall out anyway?"
Jeon, who was arrested, admitted to drug use charges and expressed a desire to apologize to the bereaved families and victims of the May 18 groups. He was released around 7:55 p.m. on the 29th after the police judged there was no risk of flight, and on the 30th morning, he visited Gwangju to meet with May 18-related groups.
Meanwhile, the police plan to continue the investigation without detention, considering the 48-hour arrest limit and Jeon’s health condition. It is presumed that this approach is due to Jeon being charged with simple drug use rather than drug trafficking.
