Busan-bound Gourmet Festival Promotion, Offering a Rewarding Trip with Two Benefits
Up to 50% Discount on KTX, Local Food, and Traditional Market Linked Products Provided
Busan City, in collaboration with Busan Tourism Organization and Korea Railroad Corporation, will launch the ‘Three Meals a Day in Busan (Busan-bound Gourmet Tourism Promotion)’ starting April 1st to capture the explosively increasing tourism demand in the post-endemic era.
The Busan-bound series is a promotion that combines transportation such as rail and air travel with travel packages to Busan as the final destination, offering exceptional benefits to attract tourists.
Starting with the ‘Transportation Grand Battle’ in 2021, it gained tremendous popularity as the first local government discount event on transportation costs (rail and air). In 2022, the ‘Night View Grand Battle’ combined products that allowed tourists to enjoy Busan’s night views, including the LCT X the SKY observatory, and sold out early within 21 days of launch, setting a record.
Returning this year under the title ‘Three Meals a Day in Busan,’ the Busan-bound series will offer up to 50% discount on KTX fares combined with gourmet-themed products to delight the taste buds of domestic and international tourists visiting Busan starting April 1st, providing a delicious travel experience.
This ‘Three Meals a Day in Busan’ (Gourmet Grand Battle) consists of local Busan foods suitable for breakfast, lunch, snacks (desserts), and dinner, linked with tourist attractions and traditional markets (night markets). Tourists can select gourmet tourism products along with transportation discounts through the Korail Talk app and LetsKorail website reservations, with each travel product available for use starting April 3rd.
▲ Individual products include hotel accommodations (LCT Residence, La Valse, Ramada Encore Busan Station) with breakfast, and paid admission tickets to tourist sites (Aquarium, Yongdusan Park Diamond Tower). ▲ Package products include Busan local West Busan gourmet tours, Busan Coffee City tours, Dreamlike Busan gourmet tours, BTS pilgrimage tours, and Busan’s representative traditional market walking food tours.
In particular, to widely promote Busan as a city of gourmet cuisine to visitors, information on various restaurants in Busan is provided through the ‘Blue Ribbon Survey’ and ‘2023 Taste of Busan.’
Various events will also be held to promote the ‘Three Meals a Day in Busan’ (Gourmet Grand Battle).
To commemorate the promotion launch, on the 31st at 11 a.m., a booth will be set up in the second-floor waiting room of Busan Station to promote and offer tasting events of Busan’s representative foods, providing tourists visiting Busan with a unique enjoyment and taste experience.
Additionally, at the promotional zone installed inside Busan Station, tourists who complete missions such as promoting the Gourmet Grand Battle and the 2030 Busan World Expo on social media (SNS) will receive a special ‘Busan-bound Gourmet Grand Battle’ Rail Plus card, produced for this event, on a first-come, first-served basis (500 people).
The Rail Plus card is a nationwide compatible transportation card preloaded with 5,000 KRW.
To actively attract tourists from the metropolitan area, a Busan tourism promotion booth will be installed at the large-scale travel expo ‘2023 NaeNara Expo (April 13?16, Dongdaemun Design Plaza, Seoul)’ to actively promote the ‘Three Meals a Day in Busan’ (Gourmet Grand Battle).
A city official stated, “Busan is a city rich in diverse and abundant flavors, not only known for traditional dishes like gukbap and milmyeon but also emerging gourmet tourism products such as coffee, bread, craft beer, and fine dining. Through this Gourmet Grand Battle, we aim to elevate Busan’s status as a global gourmet city where past, present, and future tastes coexist, leaving visitors with unforgettable flavors that bring them back again.”
